MEET YOUR HOSTS
Please meet Debbie and Rich – your gracious hosts at Stonehurst Bed and Breakfast.
We fulfilled our dream of owning and operating a B&B in October 2004 when we
purchased the existing Stonehurst B&B. Since then we have welcomed hundreds of
very satisfied guests through a strong attention to detail and desire to provide
what we believe is a true B&B experience.
We have the single goal in mind to provide you with a comfortable, relaxed
atmosphere with all the amenities of your own home. It is our belief that
while staying at a bed and breakfast you should have the opportunity to enjoy
the heritage of the area and become a part of the community while simultaneously
experiencing the boutique approach to customer service with no detail overlooked.
If you need something, just ask! We are more than happy to assist you in
whatever way possible – which may be why many of our guests are repeat visitors.
It was the purchase of Stonehurst that brought us to Fergus. Although previous
city folk (Mississauga, Ontario and Calgary, Alberta) we now love the small
Ontario town lifestyle and everything that comes with it – the calm, serene
environment with opportunities to explore the river while walking through the
cedars, the many privately-owned dining experiences within walking distance,
the various festivals that come to town that promote a community ambiance,
and the ability to create your own events with biking, hiking, walking tours
and other interactive opportunities. After living in large cities for many
years, we’ve found there are just as many activities and things to do in a
small town – if not more.
Throughout the year both of us can be found volunteering at one of the many
community events in Fergus, or enjoying the small-town life we’ve just described.
The summer months are occupied by catering to guests, tending to gardens and
numerous home projects, and in winter we can be found participating in one of
Canada's great cold weather sporting pastimes – curling at the Fergus Club.
Our home is shared with our faithful and loyal companion, Molly. Molly is an
American Cocker Spaniel and the perfect hostess. Though she loves to greet
you on arrival she otherwise keeps quietly to herself.
Stonehurst is a member of the Centre Wellington Chamber of Commerce
(Deb was a director 2006-2008) and are actively engaged with the local
business community. Deb & Rich demonstrate their commitment to the B&B
industry by their active involvement in the local B&B community, participation
in the local tourism and B&B organizations and even provincially where Deb
is the current Membership Director for the Federation of Ontario Bed & Breakfast
Accommodations.
